Our annual Madhatters Rubicon “Hold Onto Your Pants, We Are Going All The Way” trip! We had 22 vehicles planned, with a final count of 16 for the trip. It was about half n half of newbies to the Rubicon Trail, and those that have seen it before. And, honestly, it was one of the smoothest and quickest runs through the trail that we have ever done as a club. The only carnage was a broken hub in little sluice on a freshly built rig. A little lunch stoppage and a new hub later, and we were back up and running. We started on the trail at 7:30am, and the last rig pulled into the slabs at Rubicon Springs at 5:30pm. Saturday is always a day to relax in the river, go hiking, or do whatever else one wants. The exodus on Sunday went just as smooth. Both the early, and the lazy “late morningers” made it up Cadillac hill to observation point in under an hour. And the late group got their lunch stop at Sonney’s in South Lake Tahoe! 5 stars would recommend next year.
